Day 4

These days I spend more time on LinkedIn and Indeed than on Facebook and Instagram. It is now a habit to scroll through job posts several times a day; I also expect to receive LinkedIn recommendation on jobs in the morning and evening every day. I notice positions that are reposted, despite the fact that each of them got hundreds of applications. That a job post that received hundreds of applications is still reposted makes me wonder why the companies cannot find one person that checks all the requirements among these 400++ applicants? Are there too many unqualified applicants, or are the companies expectations not realistic?

I have also had a few interviews, most of which I did not do well but as everybody says – take them as an opportunity to practice. Some good advices I got from my friends and family when it comes to interview:

  • You have great stories to tell. Tell them with confidence.
  • You don’t have to talk about your experience in a chronological order. If you are interviewing for an EA position and your EA experience was 10 years ago, it’s fine to talk about it first. Just remember to tell an interesting story.
  • Make the interview a conversation, not just a boring monolog where you answer the questions.
  • Be yourself. When I talk to you, you are so charming, the way you share your opinions, the way you express yourself, you make me want to listen to you more. Show that side of you in the interview, be you.

Today my mind is full of random thoughts, but I still try to note down a few things with this post. Enjoy the journey, not just aiming at the final result.
