I am still here, still looking for a job.
The number of applications I submitted is probably 300++ now; and the progress is far from positive. The job search brings me more anxiety than anything. And I thought if I submit hundreds of application, and as a result I only have so few interviews; and zero offers – the approach is probably not right – at least for me.
So – as my birthday is coming up, I decided to spend a good amount of money on myself; and if there’s anything worth investing now, right now – it would be my career. I enrolled in a career / job search coaching program – where hopefully; not only I will land a job more effectively, I will get to understand the ins and outs of the job search process – something that has always been a myth to me.
I’ve been following the program step by step rigorously (hence the lack of blog post here). I am all in. The program is not cheap, and there are so many things we have to do in this program. I have to commit. I have no other choice. So I’ve been very busy and occupied. My day these days typically goes like this:
7 – 8:30: getting two kids ready for the day, make & pack the older’s lunch and send her off for school.
8:30-9:00: taking the younger one for a walk around the neighborhood, thinking about my job search & what my plan is for the day.
9:00 – 12:00: working on my orders in my garage studio while listening to career podcast.
12:00 – 1:30: lunch while thinking about my job search, scrolling through job posts.
1:30 – 3:30: working on the career/job search coaching program: watch the video, doing research, networking, targeting companies, jobs, contacts, etc.
3:30 – 5:00: spend time with my younger one
5:00 – 5:30: walk the dog, thinking about my job search
5:30 – 8:30: family time with everyone at home
8:30 – 11:00: laundry, tv, more job search
As you see, I am very busy. Job search is a full time job, to get us ready for the actual one.
